i can’t help but wonder if it would be inhumane to wire a cat like that and then wait to see if the cat begins to make unnatural movements for the sake of hearing them… i suspect that most cats would, sooner or later…

so as i’m watching the reactable thing, my cat is looking at me like, “Mom, what is all that racket?” and i thought about her initial raction to the new swivel chair–she’d never had a chair move after she jumped on it before–and then i thought about her jumping onto a table and batting squares and circles around, and, well, there it is…

not good at it…

sorry, i keep thinking of oral roberts,
and how the lord was going to call him home
if he didn’t get the money to build whatever it was whenever…

and i wonder how the instruments feel,
being held hostage,
and i can’t imagine you working well among such resentment
as must be arising…

but maybe i’m looking at it all wrong…

or, you know, you could try and produce a fake piece of music and see where that gets you.

that might sound pithy, but i reckon i’m onto something. you know, when you get real fake music you can tell that’s what it is, normally because the whoever is making it really thinks it’s real, but if you purposefully tried to make something that was fake?

i dunno. maybe it’d sound like throbbing gristle?

i just bought a new mixer. it’s one of those fancy firewire things with knobs all over it and stuff and, hell, i really want to hook my jawharp up to some evil distortion (maybe a phaser or something as well) and see what happens, but at the moment i’m Just Not Finding Time. my mixers sitting there, waiting for a date with me, and i’m not giving it the attention it deserves. sucky.

singing bowls?
i could swear i’ve seen those in a cheerios commercial,
but maybe i’m thinking of something else…

my first thought was that the more options i have,
the more i dither
and the less i do…
but then i thought
(and i’m not comparing you, just the process)
of my father at work (as a mechanic)
with his 2x3x4 wheeled tool vault,
a sort of symphony orchestra of molybdenum steel
and chrome vanadium stuff…
he never wondered which tool to grab…

so i guess i’ll just sort of wait here
and listen carefully…
(not something i’m especially good at)
